Explore this lovely city, wander around the waterfront, go up the Sky Tower or take a sailing trip around the bay.

Day 3 – Tauranga
Pick up your car at a downtown depot and head south-east towards Tauranga for the beautiful beaches and gentle countryside. (approximately 2 ¾ hours drive).

Day 4 – Rotorua
Continue south to Rotorua and experience the bubbling mud pools and the 30m-tall Pohutu Geyser, which erupts many times daily. It’s also home to a living Maori village and the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. (approximately 1 hours drive).

Day 5 – Lake Taupo
Your journey south continues to Lake Taupo for beautiful views, walks and hikes. (approximately 1 hours drive).

Day 6 – Napier
Head east to the lovely coastal town of Napier, famous for arts and wine. (approximately 2 hours drive).

Days 7 & 8 – Wellington
Head to the nation’s capital Wellington on the South West coast. (approximately 4 hours drive). Enjoy exploring the city, or why not check out the nearby Weta Workshop where the effects for the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings series were made.
