Days 1 & 2 – Hobart

Enjoy a free time in this bohemian coastal city. Walk along the harbourfront and explore some of the local art galleries, play chess on the giant board in Salamanca Square, walk around Arthur’s circle, visit one of the museums, wander around the old town or relax in the park.

Day 3 – Strahan via Lake St Clair

Collect your car and head west to Lake St Clair and enjoy the beautiful views and a relaxing walk along the lakeside. Continue on via Queenstown to Strahan. (approximately 4 hours driving) If you arrive early enough, why not take a cruise to Hells Gate or a walk to Hogarth Falls.

Day 4 – Cradle Mountain

Head up to Cradle Mountain where you can choose from hiking trails and lakeside walks. (approximately 2 hours driving).
1 night near Cradle Mountain.

Day 5 – Launceston

Head northeast to Launceston. Enjoy a relaxing lunch at the waterfront, or why not take the cliffside walk to Launceston Cataract where you can enjoy a chairlift ride down from the woodlands to the park below. (approximately 2 hours of driving).

Day 6 – Bay of Fires

Continue Northeast to the Bay of Fires. Why not stop at Hillwood Strawberry Farm, Josef Chromy vineyard, Anvers Chocolate Factory, or the Bridestowe Lavender Farm to get you on your way (options are seasonal). At the bay enjoy a relaxing swim at one of the pristine beaches, or take one of the many hiking trails in the conservation area. (approximately 2 ½ – 3 hours drive depending on the route.

Day 7 – Freycinet

Head south along the coast road to Freycinet National Park. Take one of the hiking or walking trails or simply enjoy the incredible views over Wine Glass Bay, or better still take the hike down to the beach and enjoy the bay from within.

Day 8 – Port Arthur

Continue south to Port Arthur. Check-in to your accommodation then head back out to the park. Port Arthur is one of the most historic and notorious penal colonies from the early days of modern Australia. A beautiful location with a very dark past. The night tour is especially creepy, but even if you only visit during the day, no trip to Tasy would be complete without a stop here.

Day 9 – Hobart

Head back to Hobart to complete the circle, but first, make a stop at the pretty town of Richmond and be sure to visit Bonorong Wildlife Park to see the famous Tasmanian devils (tickets not included).
